Release version 1.0 of Suunnistussimulaattori is now available (here) - and for free, but we're sorry to say that it is - and will be - available only in Finnish.

Release version of the game requires an activation key. The activation process is implemented in Finnish, but there are some hints in English too.

Note: Suunnistussimulaattori requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable Package (free) to run (download here...). Be sure that you have this package installed before you run Suunnistussimulaattori.

Activation

Activation process in brief: download the game, install and run. The game asks (in Finnish) if you want to send an activation request. Answer yes, then give your name and email address and push button to send the request. Suunnistussimulaattori uses an Internet browser to send the request. After succesfull activation request (header 'Suunnistussimulaattorin aktivointiavaimen luonti onnistui' in response page), your personal activation key will be automatically delivered to you by email.

International version?

An international (English) version of Suunnistussimulaattori is most likely going to be released in the future, but it is not going to happen before a fully functional Finnish version of the game has been developed (the 1st quarter of the year 2008, maybe?). Fully functional means here an orienteering game including a map- and course editor, a quality random terrain generator and a decent net game. The current version of the game already includes a map- and course editor.

Future versions

The schedule for the future versions is still open. The author is going to take a few month vacation from the development of the game.

Version 1.1

This version will include a random terrain generator and an improved map editor. These are planned to be based on Jarkko Ryyppö's Random map generator -algorithms.
    
Version 1.2

The most important new feature of this version is a net game, Suunnistussimulaattori events published on the Internet with tight RouteGadget -integration. If the international version of Suunnistussimulaattori is going to be released, it is going to be released after this version.

Version 1.3

If this version is going to be released, it will include 2-6 person multiplayer game.
